St. Louis Wins

At the beginning of the MLB season, I made a friendly wager with a friend. He is a die=hard Yankees fan. He cornered me to pick a team that would win a pennant and possibly the title. I heard on the radio earlier that day that Detroit had a good chance, so I picked the Tigers. He laughed at me. When the playoffs started and the Yankees and Tigers were matched against each other, I laughed. I had no idea what happened during the season. This was sweet justice for all the taunting he did. When they beat the Yankees I gloated, of course. When the Tigers made the finals, I secretly regretted not being a gambling man. Now that they lost, I am okay with it. Congrats to the Cards. At least one Cardinals team can post a victory.

They should create a National...

In a conversation a while ago with a female coworker, we were talking about sports. In the discussion was the differences between the CFL and the NFL. Yes, at one time there were US-based teams in the CFL. Her argument was the following:
If they have a National Hockey League with American and Canadian teams, they should create a National Football (She figured this was about to be a stupid statement right about now) League.

Cardinal's Cardinal Sin

It should have been a victory. It should have been a big victory. A celebration for the home town,The second win of the year. They did something that no other team has done this year, but they could not maintain.
Matt Leinart lead the hapless Cardinals to a 23 - 3 half time lead. Generally enough to maintain the momentum to win. Arizona is the first team this year to score against the Bear's defense in the first quarter. The previously undefeated Chicago Bears could only muster three points on offense. How is it possible that they scored 20 points in the second half? Two fumble returns and a punt return all for touchdowns. Add to the list a missed field goal at the end of regulation, albeit a 51 yard attempt, and the Cardinals hand Chicago their sixth straight win and the best starting record in 20 years.

you can't blame the defense. They only allowed three points. The offense needs to step up if they want to make a 1 - 5 record a distant memory and show the fans that the new stadium that they play in was worth the price.

Okay, it took a long time to get to the point of this post, but this is it: For the FIRST TIME IN 35 YEARS the Edmonton Eskimos will not be in the play offs. Why is this important? It's not, other than the fact that they won the Grey Cup last year by bending the trading rules when they sent players to Hamilton with future considerations, which was the QB that got them to the final game. Underhanded and dirty is what many people called it. This is justice. To Edmonton: Neener neener neener!!
